Exhibitions

Aviation history up close

100 years of flight

"Flying like a bird" long remained a human dream – until Otto Lilienthal achieved the first documented flight with a "heavier-than-air" apparatus in 1891. Our exhibition on the history of flight traces the story from the first attempts through the luxury flying of the 1920s to air travel for everyone – documented with many true-to-original exhibits. Visit individually or as part of a pre-arranged tour.

Exhibition of Tactical Air Force Wing 73 "Steinhoff"

As the resident wing at Laage air base, "Steinhoff" offers an insight into the daily duties of its soldiers with modern media and a partly interactive presentation. Its core mission – training pilots on the EUROFIGHTER weapon system – is vividly conveyed. On request, air-force personnel guide groups of 10 or more through the exhibition.

Space & Moon

From airport to spaceport

Rostock-Laage is developing into a spaceport. Together with the Berlin space company PTS (Planetary Transportation Systems), a spacelab was set up at the airport, where lunar vehicles, spacecraft and technologies for outer space are tested and prepared.

At its heart is a purpose-built lunar landscape – an authentic test environment for developing moon rovers, i.e. vehicles that transport material automatically across the lunar surface. This is complemented by a public exhibition, "Exploring the Moon", featuring models of lunar landers, lunar modules and moon rockets.
