Aviation services specialist apprenticeship
As an aviation services specialist, you will be checking in passengers and taking care of them while at the airport, providing information and advice at the information desk and taking part in marketing campaigns. This makes it an extremely varied and diverse job.
The main part of your tasks will involve serving our customers. You will also be coordinating aircraft handling processes and assisting with luggage services. Dealing with people and team work will present you with constant new challenges. You should therefore have an extremely good concept of service, cooperation and communication, and be flexible.
You will be posted to different departments and will be taught important functions of your training area by other colleagues, for example, from the operations department (aircraft processing), ground control, passenger processing (check-in and VIP care) and the HR, safety, finance, commercial administration and marketing centres.
The next apprenticeship intake will be in September 2017.
- secondary school certificate or higher
- at least 18 years of age (as there is no public transport)
- good knowledge of English
- enthusiasm for working with people
- computer skills will be an advantage
- willingness to work shifts

Course of the training
The services specialist apprenticeship will take place within a dual system. You will be taught the theory at the vocational college in Hamburg, and you will gain practical knowledge at Rostock-Laage Airport.
Half-way through the apprenticeship, you will sit an intermediate exam, which is intended to indicate any gaps in the training. At the end of the course you will sit a written and a practical qualification exam, to be assessed before the German Chamber of Industry and Commerce.
