Starting with the 2011 summer timetable, Rostock Airport will offer the first regular scheduled flights between the Rhine-Main area and the Baltic Sea region. From the end of March onwards, Deutsche Lufthansa will take off every Saturday morning from Frankfurt to Rostock and back. A second round trip will be available on Sunday evenings – ideal for a short break on the coast and of course for holiday-makers enjoying a longer stay at Germany’s most popular holiday destination.
The Boeing 737-500 that will operate the route boards 111 passengers in Business and Economy class. Tickets can already be booked, from €99 for a round trip including taxes and fees.
Maria Muller, Rostock Airport Manager: “Thanks to the Frankfurt to Rostock flights, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern can now boast a connection to the eighth largest airport in the world, where 60 percent of traffic belongs to Lufthansa and its Star Alliance partners. We are really looking forward to developing and delivering the route successfully in conjunction with Lufthansa. Initially we would like to target holiday-makers from the Rhine-Main area, saving them an exhausting eight hour drive – valuable time that should be enjoyed relaxing and holidaying from the start.”
Alongside direct flights to Frankfurt am Main and Munich, passengers to these hubs can link directly into the Lufthansa international network.
Guests from Germany’s southern and western urban areas can use the various shuttle services available from Rostock Airport – detailed on the flight timetable – to places like Warnemünde, Kühlungsborn, Heiligendamm, Fischland-Darss and Fleesensee. All leading car rental companies are also represented at Rostock Airport.
